Background of the Customer

Our customer is an Ireland-based company with more than 25 years of experience, providing global electronics repair and aftermarket lifecycle services. Headquartered in Dublin, it operates through a network of sites across Europe, the Americas and Asia, serving many of the world’s largest technology, medtech, telecom and robotics companies. Its services span repair and refurbishment, reverse and forward logistics, sustaining engineering and extended product lifecycle management. The company places strong emphasis on sustainability throughout its aftermarket operations.

What was the requirement? 

The customer needed an automated, AI-based visual inspection solution for detecting circuit damages on motherboards, in order to relieve technicians from repetitive manual inspection work and free up their time for higher-value tasks.

Our offered Solution

We developed an AI-based visual inspection system in a joint venture with SZTAKI, a Hungarian research institute, using a UR5 cobot arm to move a camera over the motherboards and perform automated visual testing powered by AI. The solution was first deployed in Hungary and, following its success, rolled out worldwide to 9 countries.

What was the benefit for the customer?

The system now automatically inspects 75% of motherboards, significantly reducing the manual workload on technicians and freeing up their time for more valuable tasks. Its successful global rollout across 9 countries demonstrates the solution’s scalability and reliability as a standardized quality inspection process.
