Background of the Customer

The customer is a global automotive technology leader specializing in the design and manufacture of advanced vehicle systems and components. Its broad portfolio includes seating, interior systems, electronics, clean mobility technologies, lighting and hydrogen solutions, supporting the transition toward safer, smarter and more sustainable transportation. Through extensive engineering expertise, continuous innovation and a global manufacturing footprint, the company helps leading vehicle manufacturers improve performance, efficiency, connectivity and environmental sustainability.

What was the requirement? 

The customer launched a bidding process for a complete turnkey project covering 9 end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) units, seeking the best overall value — including know-how and service — compared to competing offers.

Our offered Solution

We won the bid and delivered a full turnkey project, assembling nine different pick-and-place heads, one for each tool. To meet the customer’s special requirements, we used PIAB HNBR non-marking suction cups designed for high temperatures, needed due to the subsequent surface treatment of materials such as ABS, PP and PC. All sprue-removal grippers were controlled via an electrical signal consolidated into a single output, using FP sensor boxes, and M8 threaded connectors were used to allow quick swapping of sprue grippers without modifying the electrical wiring. The robot mounting was built around the customer’s standardized SeproBP120 component.

The customer received a complete, ready-to-use turnkey solution across all 9 tools, built to their specific technical standards and material requirements. The consolidated electrical control, quick-swap sprue grippers and standardized mounting made the system easier to maintain and adapt, delivering strong long-term value beyond the initial project delivery.
