Background of the Customer

Our customer is a Netherlands-based company with more than 50 years of experience, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of personalised promotional products, textiles and business gifts. Headquartered in the Netherlands, it operates regional sales offices across several European countries and a large-scale production and logistics facility in Poland spanning tens of thousands of square meters. The company introduces over 400 new products a year and serves thousands of resellers throughout Europe, with a strong focus on sustainability and fast, reliable delivery.

What was the requirement? 

The customer needed to automate the tending of CNC printing machines that print on steel and plastic bottles and cans, with the goal of increasing speed and throughput while reducing buffer time caused by manual labour.

Our offered Solution

We implemented a fully automated cell covering infeed, machine tending and outfeed, using UR20 cobots — with each cobot serving 2 printers. Two such stations were deployed, meaning 2 UR20 units tend a total of 4 CNC printing machines.

What was the benefit for the customer?

The fully automated cell significantly increased production speed and throughput while eliminating the buffer time previously caused by manual tending. Based on the success of the first two stations, the customer is already preparing to roll out 3 additional stations in the near future.
